About Just Dance!

Community dance contributes to a wide range of health agendas including managing illness, care of the sick or frail, health education and promotion, community development and offering alternative lifestyle choices (Foundation for Community Dance, 2004). In recent years, there has been an increasing number of projects where young people have worked alongside adults in inter-generational work, thus embedding them within their communities and building bridges between their experience and that of older generations.

With the above issues in mind and, after consultation with the community, Stroud District Dance Focus Group, or Just Dance!, was formed in 2005; the group is a partnership of Stroud District Council, Gloucestershire Dance, Stroud District Youth Services, Art Shape and local dance practitioners.

Dance is socially cohesive and can be delivered to all ages, abilities and genders. Just Dance! is for everyone and aims to increase awareness of provision / practice of dance opportunities within the Stroud district.
